Herbert Hamrol, the last survivor of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake (how surreal an idea is that?) has passed away. Hamrol, 106, credited his long life to "wild women and good liquor." Up until a month ago, he worked two days a week at a grocery store. He was independent, still getting around the city on the BART trains, and he'd recently celebrated his 106th birthday at a huge party at a steakhouse. 106 and eating t-bones and drinking bourbon. Nice.
